Altrad Belle Plate Compactor Takes Unusual Journey To Site

Last week saw the unusual sight of an Altrad Belle plate compactor being transported to site by helicopter!!

As part of repair work being carried out on the famous UK landmark, Glastonbury Tor, a Merlin helicopter was flown in to haul 40 tonnes of aggregate and a selection of equipment to the top of hill in Somerset.

The huge bags of stone and equipment, including the Altrad Belle PCX 13/40 plate compactor was airlifted to the top of the 518ft high hill by the Yeovilton Marines.

The work is being carried out by the National Trust to repair footpaths eroded by thousands of visitors to the site each year. It is hoped the work will allow visitors to access the Tor for many years to come.
